Shahbaz Taseer, son of former Punjab governor Salman Taseer, says that no security force or intelligence agency rescued him when he was captivated and it was only Allah’s blessing that he escaped, on Wednesday.
Some months after the murder of his father by his own guard Mumtaz Qadri, over blasphemy issue, he was abducted on Aug 25, 2011, from Lahore when he was on the way to his office, by the IMU (Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan). He was escaped in March 2017 after being held captive for nearly five years.
“Neither security or intelligence agencies, nor government came to rescue me. As they did not play any role in my release. I am thankful to Allah for my for my freedom, He is the only one I had hope in during my captivity” says Shahbaz Taseer.
However, Security agencies only brought me back from a hotel in Kuchlak near Quetta, where I reached after fleeing away from my captors, and informed agencies regarding my location.
When talked about his escape, Shahbaz Taseer told that there was no deal between captors and my family, I Just got a chance and managed to escape.
He said that freedom is a wonderful gift in our lives which we generally take for granted. but I am very glad to have it back.
“My story is a story of survival, it is a story of hope. Being hopeless was impossible for me”, he added.
