Senator of PPP(Pakistan Peoples Party), Aitzaz Ahsan said that he was astonished over the decision announced on December 27 by the co-chairman of PPP Asif Ali Zardari to contest elections in order to be a part of this parliament again, on Wednesday.
The senior government official and attorney said that the declaration made by PPP’s co-chairman was an “extremely jolting surprise ” for him.
He said “In his (Zardari’s) absence, Pakistan Peoples Party’s chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had been struggling to revive the party’s image in Punjab, which might go as a second thought now,” while talking during a current affair show on ARY News.

Ahsan and other senior leaders of the party were not aware or consulted by Zardari before announcing the choice to contest elections for National Assembly, He added.
After his arrival to Pakistan after 18 months, which was a self-imposed exile. The previous president had said that both he and Bilawal, the PPP chairman, will be contesting elections and be a part of the Parliament.
When PPP observed the 9th death anniversary of Benazir Bhutto in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh last month, Zardari announced to a big crowd of PPP supporters that, “”I want to share the good news I had promised. Bilawal and I will contest the election now, and sit in this Parliament.”
