India’s Human right commission has reported that on Sunday more than a dozen women were raped and sexually assaulted by Indian Police in Chhattisgarh state 1200 km southeast of the Capital, New Dehli.

They added that testimonies of 20 more victims of sexual assault are in the process of recording. NHRC has called for arrests of all security forces involved in the sexual assault of tribal women during operation.

Other media reports said that police officers had raped or sexually assaulted around 40 women in five villages. They have looted and destroyed homes during anti-Maoist operation.

India is facing huge armed communist resistance in central and eastern India called “Red Corridor”. These communist fighters are inspired by Chinese revolutionary leader Mao Zedong. They were fighting for land, jobs and other rights against Indian Government from last many decades.
