Broast — pressure-fried chicken with a crackling crust — is one of Karachi’s great comfort foods, eaten with fries, a bun, garlic sauce and a cooling raita. The newest wave is ‘injected’ broast, marinated from the inside so the flavour goes right to the bone, and a handful of spots now chase the taste of Saudi Arabia’s famous Albaik.
These are the broast shops Karachiites rate most highly. Most are small and busiest late at night; many do brisk delivery, but broast is best eaten hot, straight from the fryer.
Karachi Broast

A Clifton family fast-food restaurant that many locals call a Karachi legend. The broast is well-spiced and crisp, the spicy version has a real kick, and the garlic sauce gets almost as much praise as the chicken. The BBQ platter and chicken tikka are good too.
Pioneer Broast

A long-running favourite on Rashid Minhas Road in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, known for crisp, tender, gently spiced broast with raita — much as regulars remember it from years ago. The zinger and club sandwich are popular, and there’s roadside seating for a late-night bite.
Khalifa Broasted Chicken

An SMCHS spot built around injected broast, sold by the piece, half or whole bird. Reviewers rave about how juicy it is, and the glazed version is worth trying; one visitor from Lahore called it the find of their trip.
Broasté

A small Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 17 shop living up to its ‘crispy outside, flavourful inside’ promise. Order a solo box with garlic dip; regulars who know Saudi Arabia say its ‘Zing’ comes closest to Albaik, and the injected broast is smooth and juicy.
Broastix

Arabic-style broast in Federal B Area that wins over people who grew up with Albaik in Saudi Arabia. The injected broast is juicy without being oily, the nuggets and zinger are good, and prices are very reasonable.
LaBaik Chicken

A women-owned spot in Bahadurabad, sharing its space with Napoli Pizza. The chicken tenders are the star — soft and juicy, with an imported hot sauce the staff will warn you about — and the broast is fresh and well-seasoned.
Tipu Burger & Broast

A Clifton institution on Bank Road with a big local following. Despite the name, regulars mostly come for the bun kabab with chutney, shami kababs and rolls — classic Karachi street food in a clean, casual setting.
Friends Broast

A busy little shop near Abul Hasan Isphahani Road with a drive-through. The broast is clean and juicy rather than extra-crispy, and the zinger cheeseburger and coleslaw are favourites; seating is limited, so most people take away.
Kababjees Fried Chicken

The fried-chicken arm of the Kababjees group, with a branch in Defence View. Burgers and zingers lead the menu — try the Zenga burger with Albaik-style sauce — and it’s a reliable, family-friendly stop.
Prince Broast

A neighbourhood favourite on Shahrah-e-Pakistan with a family dining hall and quick delivery. Fans love its plain, salty broast, and the zinger burger and Chinese dishes are good value.
