Lahore holds some of the country’s richest collections, from the celebrated Lahore Museum — home to the Fasting Buddha and a vast Gandharan gallery — to the fort’s own galleries and museums dedicated to Pakistan’s independence and its Mughal past.

Army Museum Lahore
A large, modern museum in Lahore Cantt, opened in 2017, telling the story of the Pakistan Movement, Partition and the Pakistan Army through galleries, interactive displays, war trophies, aircraft and helicopters, with a theatre and café. It's well maintained and air-conditioned.
Lahore Museum
Pakistan's oldest major museum, in a red-brick Indo-Saracenic building on The Mall, with Gandharan Buddhist sculpture including the Fasting Buddha, Indus Valley finds, Mughal miniatures, manuscripts and coins, and Sadequain's ceiling mural. Plan at least a couple of hours.
National History Museum
Pakistan's first digital museum, in Greater Iqbal Park by the Walled City, telling the story of the Pakistan Movement and Partition through holograms, virtual reality, interactive exhibits and archives. Guided tours are good for children; power cuts can interrupt visits.
Iqbal Museum
Javed Manzil, Allama Iqbal's last home, on Allama Iqbal Road near Garhi Shahu, now a museum of the poet's furniture, books, handwritten letters and personal belongings, with knowledgeable guides. Entry is free.
National Museum Of Science & Technology
A large science museum near the UET gate with permanent and changing exhibits on physics, chemistry, biology and technology, many of them interactive, plus a library. It's popular with school groups; some exhibits are dated and the halls can be hot.
Como Museum of Art
A free contemporary art museum on Ghalib Road in Gulberg, in a striking minimalist hexagonal building, with a permanent collection, changing exhibitions and installations, and a café.
