Astore is a high valley in Gilgit-Baltistan, lying at about 2,600 metres, with its district headquarters at Eidgah. It can be reached all year from Gilgit via Jaglot, or in summer from Skardu across the Deosai Plateau, and Rama Lake, the village of Minimarg and the Rupal Valley on the southern side of Nanga Parbat all lie in the district.
